FVP Legal Assistant Artūrs Rubins Participates in International Commercial Arbitration Moot Proceedings
Our Legal Assistant Artūrs Rubins has participated in mock litigation at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, representing a team of University of Latvia Faculty of Law students. During the moot proceeding, the University of Latvia team participated in pre-moots in Georgia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Germany and Estonia. The moot concluded in Vienna, Austria.
Legal Assistant Artūrs Rubins has this to say about his experience at the International Commercial Arbitration Moot: “Participation in this moot competition has been the most significant and valuable academic experience for me in the 5 years of my studies. Preparation for the competition started in October 2015 and the next 6 months required a substantial theoretical study on the problematics of the moot, with parallel intensive training in the art of public speaking.
The knowledge gained during the final moot competition event in Vienna was presented to internationally recognised arbiters, jurists and book authors. I believe that my most significant gain from this has been the knowledge of international commercial arbitration, honing my public speaking and presentation skills, and greatly my network of international contacts.”
Details about the participation of the University of Latvia Faculty of Law student team in the International Commercial Arbitration Moot is available here (in Latvian).
